The TOEFL Expert
Hello! My name is Dr. Andrea Apa
I am a linguist and professor at an accredited College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I have over 25 years of experience teaching English as a second language to students from different cultural and academic backgrounds. Teaching English to language learners to help them fulfill their goals and dreams has always been a passion of mine. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California but lived most of childhood life in Santa Fe, Argentina, so I understand the challenges of learning a second language.
I am fully bilingual. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in in English-Spanish Translation/English Education in Argentina, my Master’s Degree in English Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at Florida International University, and my Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, Florida. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I have held several positions at the College including Student Success Advisor and Dean. I honorably have received teaching awards and certificates including a Classroom Research Award on the Academic Performance and Persistence of ESL Students, an Endowed Teaching Chair in Critical Thinking, Hispanic Educator of Distinction, Certificate in Effective and Engaging Teaching Practices and Online Techniques from the Association of College and University Educator (ACUE).
